Coolio Died With No Will In Place

Coolio

With Coolio’s death and no Will in place, it appears that his seven children will be splitting his estate. The former manager for the rap star filed a case in probate court to have the estate appraised, which can help set a value to be divided among his heirs.

Coolio had 10 children in total, and seven of those children are adults today. Since they are no longer minors, they would likely stand to inherit from their father’s estate. All the adult children are listed as probable beneficiaries and next of kin. The estimated value of the singer’s estate is more than $300,000.

Included in the estate are insurance policies, demand deposit accounts and other financial accounts, royalties, and personal property. Coolio, legally named Artis Leon Ivey Jr., was found dead in September 2022, when he was located unresponsive on the bathroom floor at a friend’s residence.

So far there hasn’t been any official cause of death released, but cardiac arrest is the suspected cause and there haven’t been any allegations of foul play. Coolio was 59 at the time of his death.

A statement from his manager, Sheila Finegan, made shortly after his death, asked for prayers and good thoughts for the family and friends of the singer. His music touched many people and was listened to and appreciated throughout the world. He will certainly be missed by those who loved him.

There doesn’t seem to be a struggle taking place about dividing the late rapper’s estate, as is sometimes seen with stars who pass away without a Will in place. No specific timeline has been set for the settlement of the estate, and nothing has been publicly said about the other three of Coolio’s 10 children.

At this point it appears likely that the case will move through probate court, with the singer’s assets being divided and distributed, unless someone else in the family contests the probate filing before that time.

Like many other celebrities who died prematurely before him, it appears that Coolio put off the estate planning process. Unfortunately, we never know how much time we have left.
