The Nine Days’ Queen: A Historical Case Study in Undue Influence and Succession Disputes
February 18, 2025In the whirlwind world of parenting, especially with toddlers, surprises are par for the course. Yet, some surprises are more, unique than others. Monica Long, a single mother from Colorado, recently experienced one such memorable incident that has since tickled the funny bones of many across the internet.
While preparing for her youngest son’s birthday party, Monica took a brief bathroom break, leaving her two toddlers to their own devices for a few minutes. Upon her return, she was greeted by a scene that every parent dreads: her boys were covered head to toe in dirt, which was also liberally sprinkled across the carpet. Assuming it was just dirt from some mischievous escapade, Monica promptly cleaned her children and vacuumed up the mess.
It wasn’t until days later, when Monica stumbled upon an empty container that once held her grandfather’s ashes, that she realized the “dirt” her toddlers had been gleefully playing in was, in fact, the remains of their great-grandfather, affectionately known as PawPaw.
Taking the discovery in stride, Monica shared her experience on TikTok, humorously recounting how her boys “got PawPaw” and how she unknowingly vacuumed him up. The video quickly went viral, amassing over 2.4 million views. Commenters couldn’t help but find the humor in the situation, with one noting, “Rest in the vacuum, PawPaw,” and another quipping, “He got to play with his grandkids one last time!”.
Luckily, Monica’s family also saw the funny side of the situation. Her grandmother, upon hearing the story, remarked that PawPaw would have “got a kick out of that.” Monica believes her grandfather, a Vietnam War veteran and former school principal, would have appreciated the humor in the situation, given his enjoyment of shenanigans.
